As the firewood season enters winter, supply becomes more difficult and quality declines. Dry firewood is considered less than 25% moisture content, and as we enter peak season supply will approach this level.
Our latest deliveries are ranging in moisture content from 15% to 22%, for an average around 20%. This firewood still burns fine, you just need to ensure you utilise good kindling to light the fires, and then once it's going, manage your coals to the middle of the fireplace and stack wood around them ensuring airflow and distribution of heat.
